Detection of Secondary Pathology Utilizing PET Scanning in Patients with Head and Neck Cancer

At North Memorial Medical Center, we utilize PET scanning as a tool in the staging of head and neck cancers. It is also employed in the post-treatment follow-up of these patients, initially at 3 months and then yearly intervals to examine for recurrence. This also offers the opportunity to establish other unrelated diagnoses. The overall aim of this project is to establish if this imaging modality has additional value in the work-up of patients with head and neck cancer.
