Chondrosarcomas are malignant tumors arising from cartilage cells that tend to maintain their essentially cartilaginous nature throughout their evolution. Chondrosarcomas are rare in the head and neck region and these lesions predominantly occur in the maxilla and are found in descending order of frequency in the body of the mandible, the ramus, the nasal septum and the paranasal sinuses. The case reported here is a multifocal grade I chondrosarcoma, mimicking a benign tumor in its clinical presentation with the unique feature of being multifocal involving right body and symphysis of the mandible. The patient also exhibited a diffuse reactionary bone lesion in the posterior maxilla bilaterally and a myxomatous area in the left body of mandible. The lack of literature with regard to a standard treatment protocol for such a diffuse presentation has led to the present case report.
