Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) is now a standard of care to sample mediastinal lymph nodes and masses with high diagnostic accuracy and low complication rates. However, the procedure has potential complications that might be life-threatening. Here, we present the first case of Propionobacterium acnes (P. acnes) causing mediastinitis following EBUS-TBNA of a subcarinal lymph node.

Herein, we report two clinical cases with acute temporary filtering bleb obstruction by gas tamponade after Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) surgery and postoperative intraocular pressure (IOP) peaks. We present a case whereby standard immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry studies for a conjunctival biopsy were unable to reliably differentiate between the two distinct pathological processes of benign reactive lymphoid hyperplasia from conjunctival lymphoma. A tissue diagnosis was only able to be conclusively attained after the application of immunoglobulin heavy chain rearrangement studies to the specimen.
