Thioureas, which are popular hydrogen‐bonding donors in organocatalysis, are revealed to act as Lewis basic ancillary ligands in CuI catalysis by N. Kumagai, M. Shibasaki, and co‐workers in their Communication (DOI: 10.1002/anie.201812673). Achiral trisubstituted thioureas played an indispensable role in controlling the stereochemical course of the CuI‐catalyzed direct coupling reaction of α‐fluorinated nitriles and aldimines, delivering densely functionalized chiral building blocks.
