Endothelial cells (EC) play key physiologic and pathologic roles. In article 1601410, Ke-feng Ren and co-workers report a surface with mechanical adaptability based on the thin polyelectrolyte film that can respond to cell-secreted matrix metalloproteinases. The data demonstrates that such system showed distinguished superiority to promote EC growth and functionality.
