Angewandte Chemie International Edition Supramolecularly Assembled Nanocomposites as Biomimetic Chloroplasts for Enhancement of Photophosphorylation

An artificial chloroplast fabricated by molecular assembly and application in photophosphorylation in vitro is described by J. B. Li et al. in their Communication (DOI: 10.1002/anie.201812582). Inspired by natural chloroplast compartments, the hierarchical SiO2 nanosponges, photoacid molecules, and liposome‐ATP synthase are co‐assembled as organic–inorganic hybrid nanocomposites for photophosphorylation output control.
