We read with interest the report by Weiss and associates on comparative effectiveness and resource usage in patients receiving first-line taxol-based chemotherapy for stage IV NSCLC in a US community oncology setting.1 We have been very interested in chemotherapy for NSCLC in population-based clinical practice2, 3 as well as comorbid diseases in NSCLC patients.4, 5 We would like to ask four points. First, the authors analyzed clinical data in 475 NSCLC patients in this study, we do ask how the authors determined this sample size were appropriate.
