Refining Patient Selection for Re-Irradiation of Head and Neck Squamous Carcinoma in the IMRT Era: a Multi-Institution Cohort Study by the MIRI Collaborative

Patients with recurrent or second-primary squamous carcinoma of the head and neck have many treatment options in the modern era. Although modern IMRT-based re-irradiation may confer better outcomes than conventional data may suggest, treatment selection remains challenging. This multi-institution study is the largest analysis of squamous carcinoma to-date and informs treatment selection in the modern era including the identification of distinct prognostic subgroups via a recursive partitioning analysis (RPA).
