RE: Influence of Statins and Cholesterol on Mortality Among Patients With Pancreatic Cancer

We read with great interest the recent study by Huang et al. (1). This retrospective study had the largest unbiased sample size among all related studies and thus carried substantial clinical implications. Notably, the authors pointed out that the beneficial effect of statin usage in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) patients is independent of its cholesterol control effect. However, we disagree with the authors' interpretation of their results that statin worked through a "lipid-independent" mechanism (1).
