Dr. Isabelle Rapin, internationally renowned as a pediatric neurologist for her contributions to the understanding of autism,1 was in addition to her seminal work in pediatric neurology, a major contributor to the field of pediatric otorhinolaryngology, beginning in the 1970's2 with her paper on evoked potentials as a tool for diagnosing hearing loss in infants. This publication was the product of an intellectual and scientific collaboration between Dr. Rapin and myself which began in the mid1960's, when we initiated our correspondence concerning the diagnostic uses of human cochlear potentials and of auditory evoked potentials.
