Cancer and cardiovascular diseases are the two most common causes of mortality worldwide [1]. In the elderly cancer population, heart and vascular diseases represent the most frequent coexisting conditions, may be due to the presence of a series of shared risk factors, such as chronic inflammation and altered metabolism [2]. Improvements in therapies have significantly prolonged survival of cancer patients, however leading to a growing rate of cardiotoxic complications related to cancer therapy.
