Alveolar Osteitis and Third Molar Pathologies

We read with great interest the article published in your valuable journal, "Does Administration of Oral Versus Intravenous Antibiotics for Third Molar Removal Have an Effect on the Incidence of Alveolar Osteitis or Postoperative Surgical Site Infections?" by Reiland et al.1 Antibiotics administration in third molar (3M) surgery is an endearing concept in oral surgery and we commend the authors for their excellent literature review and study population. However, we would like to raise some important points.
