Two years ago this autumn, Hugo Obwegeser embarked on his final adventure on the western shores of the Atlantic when he returned to Washington, D.C. to celebrate his first visit to that city of some fifty years earlier. The course of days has reduced to a skeleton crew those in our ranks who lived those times, but with those lectures Obwegeser initiated an indebtedness in us for all generations that is so enormous as to be beyond reckoning.
